12 Days of Christmas iPhone - Day 2

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me...

iPhone Maps

Click on the Maps Icon and open up a whole new world of navigation and more. The most common use of the  maps app is to find an address and route from your present location to that address. In this capacity the iPhone map app is great.

When your iPhone finds the location click on the blue arrow, scroll down and click "directions to here".

The blue dot is you. and the red pin is your destination.

When walking, you can hold your iPhone in your hand.

But, please mount it when driving.

Click the bottom right corner of your maps and you will open up this menu. From here you can change the maps from maps to satelite, list or my favorite hybrid. You can also turn on "show traffic". Show Traffic will display real time traffic on the streets around your location. It is invaluable because it is real time! This feature is worth the cost of the iPhone.

But the best feature is the search. type in "Starbucks" and your iPhone will locate all the starbucks within a few miles.. You can click on the red pin to select the closest, then use the Directions to route yourself to your impending half-calf soy latte.

Hope you use this article as the jumping off point in how you can use maps on your iPhone.

Look for the next installment.
